Physiopedia supports Egyptian physiotherapist’s CPD in new hybrid training programme

by admin

In Egypt, the field of physiotherapy is evolving with a strong emphasis on continuous professional development (CPD) to manage musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions more effectively. To support this, Egyptian physiotherapists are increasingly turning to Physiopedia to enrich their knowledge and skills.

The accessible and comprehensive online Physiopedia platform provides a robust framework that includes best practices, innovative treatment approaches and the latest research in MSK condition management. Such resources have been empowering clinicians in Egypt to improve the quality of care delivered to their patients.

Physiopedia is not just used for personal professional development, a successful collaboration led by Ahmed Diab, an editor at Physiopedia and  senior physiotherapist at the Egyptian Ministry of Health is a standout example of how Physiopedia can be used to power group CPD sessions to improve learning and development for physiotherapists. Working closely with colleagues in the Menoufia Governorate, Dr Noaman Ali (Head of the Scientific Committee in the Menoufia Physiotherapy Syndicate) and  Dr Ehab Sobhy (Head of the Physical Therapy Department in the Menoufia Directorate of Health), work has been undertaken to develop CPD workshops for physiotherapists.

The workshops, held in Shebin El-Koum, 80 km from Cairo, address the acute need for specialised skills and manual therapy techniques in MSK management. They bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application on a variety of topics vital for physiotherapy practice, such as cervical spine dysfunction, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, shoulder problems and neonatal ICU care. During these workshops participants benefit significantly from using Physiopedia as a primary resource alongside the in-person workshops.

The impact of these workshops is profound, with many participants reporting their first experience of such a well organised training on MSK conditions. They noted improvements in critical thinking skills in setting functional goals during the treatment session. This feedback underscores the value of structured hybrid (online and in-person) CPD programmes in enhancing clinical skills and patient outcomes.

Ahmed enthuses about Physiopedia for enhancing training programmes in Egypt, “It is a vital reference platform that facilitates the training, knowledge sharing, and skill enhancement of physiotherapists worldwide. As experienced in Egypt, Physiopedia not only facilitates training and knowledge sharing but also enhances practical skills essential for managing complex health conditions.”

At Physiopedia we encourage rehabilitation professionals globally to leverage these high-quality, evidence-based resources to create hybrid training programmes for the further the continuing education and  professional development of rehabilitation professionals worldwide.
